Dr Begley is a consultant cardiologist and specialist in cardiac rhythm management at Royal Papworth Hospital and is the current Divisional Clinical Director for Cardiology.
He graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1994. Following a period of general training in Scotland, he completed a period of clinical research in the United States and was awarded the degree of Doctor of Medicine by the University of Edinburgh.
He trained in general cardiology in the northern rotation where he completed subspecialty training in cardiac electrophysiology and device therapy. He was appointed a consultant at Papworth in 2007 and was clinical lead for cardiac rhythm management between 2011 and 2016 and took up the role of Clinical Director for cardiology in 2018.
He has extensive experience in all aspects of adult cardiac electrophysiology including the ablation of complex arrhythmias, device implantation and extraction techniques.
