His major research interest over the years has been the evaluation of new technologies in the cardiovascular field. Most of this work has been published in peer-reviewed journals. As a result of this, many techniques have now been incorporated into routine clinical practice. One example of new technology which has been incorporated into routine practice is percutaneous myocardial laser revascularisation. This procedure is used in patients who have angina despite medication, and who are not suitable for conventional treatments – including coronary artery bypass surgery or coronary artery stenting.
